Q & A with Client with Chronic IBS

Q1. Why did you come to Urban Naturopath?
Ans. When I first came to Rupinder, I suffered from chronic irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), neck pain and stiffness from bone overgrowth. Had difficulty staying asleep, breathlessness and mild emphysema. There was muscle weakness, low B12 and Vitamin D and slightly elevated cholesterol.

I felt frustrated and tired from chronic illness and the inability to find the knowledge to understand my body and healing. All the practitioners (except one) I had seen previously resorted to using expensive supplements that proved to only be “Band-Aids” in my experience.

Q2. How do you feel now, almost 2.5 months into treatment?
Ans. I feel relieved, excited and grateful to have found Rupinder who has helped me learn so much about myself and my healing with food, sleep, movement with daily check ins and yoga sequences.

Q3. What has been the biggest change you have noticed?
Ans. My GUT.  Remember, I had IBS, so I used to go to the loo at least 3-4 times a day. Since a month now, I go only once. My GUT feels very comfortable, clean and calm now that it is stable. Overall, I am so excited to be feeling so healthy, calm and clean for the first time in many years.
Finally, I am starting to listen and understand my unique body system.

Q4.  How were the initial days? What did your loved ones think?
Ans. The first month was so very different. I was eating only a few citrus fruits and many, many apples daily, for weeks. I have loved the apples and surprisingly after hundreds of them, I still love apples!
It was not difficult at all, as I felt almost instant relief and calmness in my GUT, the first time in many years. Simply Amazing! The mono diet is Simple and takes the focus off food and places it on healing.
My family did think I was NUTS 😊 but were not surprised. I have tried so many treatments and nutritional ideas before that they really were not very surprised at all.

Q5. What did you find challenging?
Ans. Our remoteness did make accessing fresh fruit in quantity a little difficult and called for planning ahead. But other than that, and the fact that we were using raw fruit made it easy as  I did not need to plan what to cook.

Q6. How was it working with Rupinder?
Ans. Speaking with Rupinder so regularly and working together was so easy and filled me with hope. Rupinder is very passionate about her work and the health of her clients which has made it easy to ask questions and learn so much from Rupinder’s wealth of knowledge and training.
I love the Yoga and feel the huge advantages of Rupinder’s client tailored sequences. She always encourages and guides me to listen to my body and feel my way through everything in my own time and way.

Q7. Now that you have already been with the Urban naturopath for over 2 months, what is the next line of focus?
Ans. The next focus is on developing my bone and muscle strength, particularly in my upper body to enable more effective breathing. We are working to loosen and expel excess mucous from my lungs while increasing my lung capacity. A lot more yoga breathing techniques have now been added in addition to cell building through nutritional intake.
I also eat a lot more sprouted food like wheat & green lentil sprouts now, in addition to hot soups.

Q8. Are you noticing any difference in your breathing?
Ans. I would very much like to keep moving forward as my lungs and body are already feeling clearer as I am learning how to loosen and expel mucous successfully.
I have a history of lung weakness and mild emphysema caused through smoking when I was younger so this improvement in my breathing is Amazing!
